Choosing a Saw

We offer a wide range of saws for a variety of purposes and applications. From 6” trim saws to 36” slab saws to ring saws and even band saws, we have a saw to fit your needs.

When choosing a saw, the first thing to consider is sample size. Ask yourself “How big are the pieces I want to cut?” Once you have your answer to this question, you can determine which size saw you need.

See the chart below to help you decide. Please keep in mind that many people tend to wish they could cut larger pieces later down the road, so a little more money for a larger saw might be the more economical long-term choice.

 Rock Diameter Blade Diameter
Up to 2" 6" to 8"
Up to 3" 10"
3" to 4" 12"
3" to 5" 14"
3" to 6" 16"
3" to 7" 18"
3" to 8" 20"
3" to 10" 24"
3" to 12" 30"
3" to 15" 36"

This chart determines the saw size required to cut rough rock. These recommendations are made to allow the most efficient cutting while offering the longest blade life. Larger rocks than those specified can be cut, but the surface area of the blade will receive greater wear.

Glass, Stone or Other

Saws can be used to cut both glass and stone, as well as tile and other materials. It is important to know what kind of material you will be cutting when choosing a saw. We offer a variety of saws with blades designed specifically for cutting glass.

We also have ring saws that cut a variety of materials. The advantage of the ring saws is that they can cut forwards and backwards, as well make curved cuts, depending on the blades used.
